 What's New For The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica?

If you have seen the commercials for the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica starting comedian Jim Gaffigan and wondering whether you’ve actually heard of the name before now, you’d be right. For a brief spell in the mid-2000s, Chrysler manufactured and sold a midsize crossover under the Pacifica nameplate. Today, it has been reimaged as a minivan, a body style that, coincidentally, Chrysler is credited with creating in the first place. The new (and improved) Pacifica is available in five variants: the LX, the Touring, the Touring L, the Touring L Plus, and the Limited.

The workhorse on the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica is the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, which generates 287 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. The engine is hitched to a 9-speed automatic transmission. Sporting a front-engine front-wheel-drive layout, the minivan gets 18 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. Inside, the Pacifica is furnished with three rows of seats that accommodate up to seven people. To expand the maximum occupancy to eight, however, you can replace the two bucket seats in the second row with a bench-style seat similar to the one at the third row. The second and third rows comprise a Chrysler technology named Stow ‘n Go®, which means that the seats there can fold flat under the floor. As a result, you can have up to 140.5 cubic feet of luggage space. At the front row, the driver’s seat has 8-way power adjustability and 4-way power lumbar support. The Touring L trim is upgraded with leather seat covering and front-seat heating capability. The leather seat covering on the Touring L Plus is perforated, and heating capability is extended to the second row.

On the Limited, the leather seat covering is upgraded, 8-way power adjustability is added on the front passenger seat, and the third-row seats have power folding. At the base level, the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica comes with standard comfort and convenience features like Bluetooth® connectivity, cruise control, tri-zone manual climate control, steering wheel-mounted controls, and a six-speaker stereo system with a 5-inch touchscreen display. Chrysler adds a SiriusXM® satellite radio subscription on the Touring, and remote start and a remote garage-door opener on the Touring L. On the Touring L Plus, infotainment is upgraded to a 13-speaker Alpine system with an 8.4-inch touchscreen and a six-month subscription to Uconnect® Access for voice activation. The Limited gets HD Radio™, a navigation system, and a Stow ‘n Vac® vacuum cleaner for cleaning the cabin. Standard safety features include a rearview camera, hill start assist, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, electronic stability control with ready alert braking, and 10 airbags. Upgrading to the Touring L trim or higher adds a sensor-based rear parking assist system, as well as blind spot monitoring and cross path detection.
